Although law enforcement already utilizes drones, fire, and code enforcement departments are just starting to implement this powerful technology; as such, cities must establish drone policies that address operational standards, federal regulations, and Fourth Amendment concerns. One of Lauren’s proudest achievements is her work in drafting code amendments. These amendments provide cities with a robust toolbox of enforcement tools, addressing issues ranging from sidewalk vending and fireworks regulations to cannabis regulations and public camping. To comply with changes in State law and case law, Lauren reviews municipal codes to identify weaknesses, recommends and drafts amendments, and assists city staff with curating staff reports to accompany ordinance amendments for city councils’ approval.
