On March 15, 2023, the Palmdale City Council unanimously approved and passed an ordinance that lays out the guidelines for sidewalk and other mobile vendors operations in the City.
This new ordinance aligns the City of Palmdale’s municipal code with changes made to state law in recent years. It is considered a big accomplishment for the City’s residents and businesses in the City, both street vendors and brick-and-mortar businesses, all of which are a key part of Palmdale’s daily life.
This newly mandated ordinance addresses numerous essential things:
Having an ordinance that sets guidelines for the community allows businesses to thrive and serve the community. The vital win of this ordinance is that it addressed and balanced the concerns of all stakeholders holding a myriad of interests in the topic. This win is also essential because it ensured the City was in compliance with key state law changes, including Senate Bill 946.
The regulation of business practices and operational standards protects the safety and health concerns of the community while also allowing small businesses to operate and thrive in the community.
The team at Civica Law Group worked with the City of Palmdale to make this ordinance a reality. With vast experience and knowledge in handling health and public safety-related issues, Civica Law Partner, Valerie Escalante Troesh, was directly involved in this ordinance.
